The Marshmallow Queen

I adore Fall. Soup weather. And so does Dima. Or at least his stomach
does. Tonight's creation: vegetable rice dumpling soup with a "mother"
of last weekend's chicken minestrone mixed in. Yummmmmm.

Cheerios & Rice Crisco

Lydia no longer wants yogurt as a go to food. This morning she has her
own bowl with milk with Cheerios and Rice Krispies.

First Pumpkin

"Grandma," my mom, bought Lydia a pumpkin when she came to visit last week. We decided that rather than drawing something traditional and carving it for her, or even just taking over and drawing our own masterpiece, we would give her a Sharpie and let he draw on it herself. Now, granted, Dima drew the mouth and we did give her guidance on where to draw circles for the eyes. But other than that, this pumpkin is solely Lydia Violet's creation. We carved exactly what she drew. Pretty cool and not bad for 2.25 years old. Sort of Dali-esque, yes?

Two Band-Aids

Today Lydia accidentaly dropped the toilet seat on her fingers and got
two little cuts. But it was all better after we put two Dora the
Explorer Band-Aids on her fingers. She walked around all day with her
fingers outstretched, but never took off the bandages.

Big Girl Bed

Today at naptime we introduced Lydia to a new concept. A bed that "won't fence her in." We removed the crib railing and attached the toddler bed rail. She napped, more consumed by the realization that she didn't have to STAY in her bed, than actually sleeping. (When nap time was over I found her dozing by the door rather than on her mattress.) Well, I'm glad we did a test run. She's now fast asleep in her new Big Girl Bed. This is her just before we read our books and said night-night. So cute. SO proud.

Rough Week

Good grief. I went to pick up Lydia at daycare today and as I was
walking up I heard a crash followed quickly by he distinct wail. Her
push-toy had gotten away from her and she had literally hit the
pavement. Face first. Ow! Poor girl. It's been a rough week.

Update on the hives...

It seems like they're starting to heal. Poor little lips. Someone suggested that they might be flea bites and she's allergic. I hope not. Because that means there might be fleas in the house. Yikes!

Hives...

It's hard to see but Lydia has hives all over her face and arm. We're
at the doctor right now to figure out what's up. She's a trooper. Even
though in this pic she looks miserable. :(

Making Her Ded Proud

This morning at home and once again in the car Lydia Violet was

This is not an illusion or photo manipulation. This is what Lydia Violet's feet look like after she puts on her own sandals. I must say (Ed Grimmley) that she was a big help this morning. As I got dressed, she found her sandals and put them on all by herself. Умница!

Lydia's Godfather bought her Wedgets for her birthday. She stacked and
